Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences

From its humble beginnings in 1996, the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS) has blossomed to be a key contributor in the Nelson area, attracting almost 100 students from across North America to its three, four and five year programs in Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, diet therapy, Qi Gong, Taiji Quan, Tuina, Western medicine and Chinese language components.

Owners Deb Sigfusson and Warren Fischer knew immediately Nelson was not only the right fit for their business, but that the beauty and vibrancy of the community would become a significant draw for its students, and a competitive advantage for the school.

ACOS has a fully stocked Chinese herbal dispensary and a bookstore which carries a wide range of health-related titles. The Academy's thriving Outpatient and Student Clinics provide students with crucial practical experience as well as offering the community an excellent level of health care.
