In 2008, Chris Eklund, owner and operator of Cash Town Loans Co. relocated to Sparwood from Flin Flon Manitoba for a job at one of the mines. After moving to Sparwood and seeing the vast opportunities, Chris decided to leave the mines and become an entrepreneur. By believing in himself and doing a lot of due diligence about the business, including writing a business plan, having the financial resources saved up, and having the support of his spouse, Chris was able to move forward with his plans of becoming self employed.
Through the wealth of information available on the internet, and through the help of the people and community of Sparwood he was able to open and operate Cash Town Loans Co. in March of 2009.
Sparwood is a community that wants more services in town, and when a new business opens up a lot of people make a point of learning a little more about it and supporting it in any way they can. There is also commercial space available to lease, which lessens the risk to businesses in the initial start up phase.
