After a life-changing accident kept Roy Honkanen from working away from home, he and his wife Leah were presented with a unique opportunity to manufacture 100% Pure Beeswax Candles from their property outside Kaslo. Their passion for quality natural products combined with their previous small business experience and desire to stay in the Kootenays made the venture a perfect fit. They modified an existing building on their 15 acres of land to create a small candle factory. Within a few years, the Honkanens purchased the other partners shares and combined manufacturing and distribution. They have since expanded the business with an in-house sales and marketing team and have created a powerful website and catalogue. With further investment in production and branding, Honey Candles® are now North America’s most reliable source for 100% pure beeswax candles. They have a staff of 14 whose commitment to creating natural candles in an eco-friendly environment has contributed to the success of Honey Candles Ltd.
